Perjo - Female CAG hatch Nov 2015
Perjo really made my day today. I was sitting in a recliner watching TV, had my left leg crossed on top of my right knee. All of a sudden I hear wings a flapping, her cage is only 7 feet away in the same room, and I look to my right and she is in mid flight and lands perfectly on my leg. I don't recall any loud noises or anything that spooked her to jump and take flight, so I am assuming she just took off with the intention of coming to me. And he did it perfectly.

It was so cool.

I don't spend time everyday with her practicing flying in the house, but I do it with her at least twice a week usually, sometimes 3-4 days, just for 5-10 minutes.

I also give her exercise by giving her rides when she is perched on my hand. I fully extend my arm and bring it toward me, going up or down, and force her to flap her wings with some vigor. 45 seconds straight and her heart beat is rapid and she's excited. I'll even walk the room and just move hy arm up and down to give her the feel of a long flight. She enjoys it and I think it builds up her strength a little and helps with confidence.

Such a nice surprise to have her fly over to me all on her own.

How sweet. I'm curious when she first started flying longer distances, did she "crash land"? I really don't know how much fly time my guy got but he really doesn't know how to land very well.

Wonderful.
And thus continues The Reign of Perjo the Flighted!

Good job! Too many parrots become couch-potatoes, either because they lack the confidence or are not encouraged to fly. Certainly enhances Perjo's health!!

You should feel good - Greys are known for their taste among humans.

She's not had horrible crash landings, one or two that I felt I had to get up and get her immediately.

She's funny after she takes an unscheduled flight, b/c after I get her she usually lets out a whistle as if to say "phew, that was close".
