This is my first time with Millet Spray. I'm not sure if this is mold or not. (Look at the stems.) If it isn't do I store it in a ziplock bag or something to avoid mold? Also, I hear that millet spray Is bad. Is this true? My GCC tried it for the first time a few minutes ago and he LOVES it.(Sorry for bad quality pictures.)

I can't tell if it's mold but I always freeze the whole bag of millet for a week before I feed it to my birds, just to kill any hitch hiking insects.
Store it in a ziplock or other airtight container.

I'll probably do that then. Anything to keep our birds safe. ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–

If thereโ€™s any damp in the millet, then it will definitely mold. Just saying.

If the smell or color is off, throw it out.

I don't know it's natural smell. This is my first time handling millet spray. It's in my freezer currently. So hopefully it's okay.

Mold smells like mushrooms and looks white grey blue or black. Millet should be golden brown and doesnโ€™t smell like much; maybe like grass or birdseed.

Oh okay. If I may ask, where do you get your millet spray? (If you have/use any.)
The one I got smelt weird. I couldn't explain it, but I was unsure of the smell.

I ordered my last millet spray from chewy and got kaytee brand. Sometimes I buy it direct from the pet store.

To me, millet smells kind of like wood shavings. Or like birdseed.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the fuzz. Every millet spray that I have bought has it. Maybe touch the fuzz? If it feels rough, then it's probably not mold. If it feels soft, then it might be mold.
