Before I had my heart valve replacement this cat kept doing something I found strange.
He didn’t lay on my lap but would lay on my chest.
Since the valve replacement when he comes over to see me he stands on my lap and I feel like he can hear the new valve.
and he doesn’t lay on my chest anymore.

He had a similar response when my wife was having stomach pain, he curled up right there next to her stomac.
I have seen documentaries about how cats can hear into ultra high frequency (to hear mice and things) so I would not be to surprised if they could detect something wrong inside the body by sound.

CAT scan?

Animals are so attentive and we need to “listen” to them.

I’m glad your dad got better, and has a loving kitty to keep an eye on him.

Willow is on his basket on my lap, crunching his beak. I’ve been very sore and sleeping badly and both birds are being so loving.
