I own 4 Parrotlets They are such great lil birds.
i have loved and wanted one for years but finally got one in Dec 2008 and then had to get another Fed 2009
My other one is one of their babies who isstill seeking a home. (Yea i am a bit picky who i let my babies go home with when I have them LOL)
and the other is a lil Spaly leg boy that a friend who breds saw the connection and bond he and I had at a parrotlet convention this past May and she sent him home with me
They keep me busy and laughing never a dull moment that is for sure.

He is soo adorable! I personally ( along with a lot of breeders) think happyhuts/snugglehuts are useless. With budgies ( not sure if this applies to parrotlets but does with other small parrots ) they cause chronic egg laying, leading to a much shorter life. This probably doesn't apply with other parrots. Just my opinion but I have had quite a few people ask me:
I bought my budgie a snugglehut and it laid eggs, why?

I agree I once gave huts to all the babies to take home but no longer do so with hens.
I so still give to males as long as they do not get all hormonal

The local bird store that I go to from time to time always has parrolets and they just fascinate me! I'm so used to Max, Jade and Ruby that these little guys look like hat decorations. Even conures seem tiny to me.

Hmm if you think Pacific Parrotlets are small you should see the green Rumps. My girl friend has one that sleeps on her head while she works :0)
He is so small you miss him if you do not pay attention

Oh and I so know what you mean i have not had a large bird in years and with Pancho my new rescued Amazon comign wow but I forgot how larrge the Zons were. :11:

I'm not to worried about Peeps since he's a male. Thanks guys, yeah I love this little guy. So Green Rumps are the smallest in the parrotlet family? I've always wanted a blue one, they're so gorgeous. You guys should see when Peeps opens his wings, the blue is like ruby blue! It's beautiful. Right now he's snuggled up next to my neck fast alseep.

Just to let everyone know, parrotlets are VERY easy to take care of

Peeps is almost a perfect bird, he dosn't pluck, he dosn't screech or scream, Peeps very quiet and even if you heard His loudest you'd still think it wasn't annoying. Peeps love me and he has absolutely no nipping or biting problems. The only time he will ever nip you is if he's EXTREMELY scared and he only grabs onto you so hard because he dosn't want to leave you. Also he's not messy and you don't need a big cage! Again thanks for all the comments, in about 1 month Peeps will have a playing buddy(well 2 1/2 since I have to quarantine the conure )

Actually i am unsure iof the Spectacleds or green rumps are smallest but both are smaller than Pacifics
Only Pacifics come in colors
Thankfully so because the only way to get the others in colors it to mix with a pacific which sadly some irresponsible or possibly Uninformed in some cases are in fact doing just to make a buck which I find SAD.

I as well had a parrotlet who died in 2006 and it's heartbreaking..........
