Lol. He looks like he'd be smiling from ear to ear if parrots could smile! I think many of our beautiful PARROTS feel they would be better off as ducks (or maybe even parrotfish) lol.

I'm quite positive my little dude smiles at me ... I've had him around 5 months and OMG he so much a big part of our family ( I keep saying he ? So I was told !! Don't care ) kiwi is such a character. Happy new year all my birdy lovers and Your featherd babies.

Question .... Any advice on filing his needle like claws ?? He lives to sit on my hands (everywhere ) I look like I've had a cat fight all the time ! Think I've hot sensitive skin (never noticed before lol) I work in a pharmacy and to be honest it doaent look good ! Can't wear gloves to give my baby cuddles !!!!

Any advice ?? Thanks in advance. Xx

What a sweetie! Diesel loves his baths and showers too. So nice that there are so many things you can do together with your pet and have fun!
Parrots are such time wasters! I could sit and stare at Diesel up to his hijinks all day!

Gotta love Alex shower pics. There is nothing quite so ecstatic as an Alexandrine parrot having its shower and your Kiwi looks every bit as happy as a happy Alex should! What a darling!

There's not much you can do about the needle-sharp claws except get your vet to show you how to clip them. It's scary (IMHO), because you can cause a big bleed if you're not careful. I'd die if I hurt my guys inadvertently, so I chicken out and get the vet to do it occasionally.

I was advised to use various sandpaper/calcium/pumice perches and I've tried 'em all. None worked, either for the Beaks or for Dommie the Galah. I just put up with having needle-track arms and tell people 'I keep parrots...' when they stare. It's only a small price after all. Do you happen to have red hair? I and my kids do, so we always have livid-looking claw-marks. My husband has more olive skin and he doesn't seem to mark as badly as we do.

My girl won't let me file her nails and I look like an extra from a slasher movie. It's torture, and I still let her rip me to shreds just so I can spend time with her.

Hi guys. No I don't have red hair, but I am fair skinned. My hands are a mess, I tried to file but there is no chance he is letting me. He has the perch that is suppose file them down but agree it's useless. Everyone knows I keep a bird but when customers at work look at my hands and arms I'm sure they think im hurting myself !! ... Getting to have the cuddles with him is worth the scratches I don't like him on my shoulder (he does love it up there) but I'd rather have him where I feel in control.

Will have to pay the vet a visit and get him a manicure )))
