Hello, I was on this forum about 2-3 years ago when I got my first gcc Meeka. A lot has happened since then and I decided to join and share my story. (And to share any other things about my silly birds)
-I got Meeka, a cinnamon green cheek conure, a little more than 2 years ago. She was my first bird and was a craigslist find so her history before I brought her home with me is limited. Her left wing is messed up from an unknown cause and happened before I got her so she doesn't fly unless absolutely necessary, other than that she was and still is very healthy. My first couple months with her was rough (bit hard a lot) but eventually she became my best friend and hasn't bitten me in a long time.
-Then a year later I went to Petsmart with my family because my brother was going to get a bearded dragon. Guess what they had, yup a normal green cheek conure. I thought maybe he could be company for Meeka too. He wasn't hand tame and even if caught he wouldn't bite at all. He was even on sale because he had been there for months because he wasn't hand tame. I couldn't resist I had to have him. The staff had named him Morpheus and I decided to keep it that way. I wasn't ever able to hand tame him though. He did bond to Meeka though and I've kept them together ever since.
-After a few months of them together I noticed that they were trying to mate. I wasn't for sure if they were male and female but I went ahead and put a nesting box into their cage just in case if either one were to lay eggs they would have a place. I researched and researched about breeding green cheek conures. About a month after I put the nest box in Morpheus became very territorial and started biting. Meeka laid her first egg on May 1st,2013 and was the first of 6 eggs!(When the first egg hatched I started making videos of the growing babies for my youtube channel.) Out of the 6 eggs only 3 hatched and grew into healthy babies. I let Meeka and Morpheus raise them. My little cousins named the babies Neeko, Chirpy, and Flapper. I had them DNA sexed which turned out I had Neeko-male, Chirpy-female, and Flapper-female.
-Now about 6 1/2 months later I kept Chirpy, renamed her Shyra, and have been hand taming her after selling Neeko and Flapper to a good home.(I've also been making youtube videos of my hand taming of Shyra too)
--Thanks for reading!

That's an amazing story, I hope you and your conure stories continue because I loved reading it! I will visit your Channel as soon as I download youtube (it deleted itself then multiplied after my phone was replaced.)

an eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind~ Gandhi

Thank you :)
