my bird died ???

Hi guys i had a quaker a while back for two years and it randomly died on me on nite i woke up and found it bleeded out laying on the cage floor with a litte cut under the wing and blood all over the cage i looked up info and saw things that some bird suffer from nite frieght or something like that but he never flew around in his cage at nite fell asleep easily im just worryed because im ready to get a cockateil but i heard its more common in cockateils than quacker to have nite freight and i dont want to lose anther bird or i may get a green cheeck conure rip juan the best quacker ever lmao my fav merory of him is he used to think he was a dog and bark all the time because of his old owners oyea i adopted him when he was i think like 1 year old he was a blue quacker by the way:blue2: ............. i just wantedto know more info abut how he passed away sorry for ranting he died alwhile ago but i still miss him
 
Do you think he broke a blood feather ? (developing primary that's full of blood)
 
Must of been that because when i found her there were like two or three big feathers in the cage Idk it sad but imma get a new bird name it after him
 
I'm sorry for your loss. I've had birds die and I never knew why. It's very sad. :-(
 
Cockateils are prone to night fright. My Teil used to get it quite often, but she never hurt herself - although when it happened she always woke me up and i could go out and comfort her.
Its important to have enough cage space that is they do start freaking out its not so easy for them to hurt themselves. They usually fall off the perch and flap wildly whgen it happens, so dont crowd the cage with toys and tray and keep the bottom 15cm or so free of perches, toys and clutter. It doesnt necessarily kill them, you would have been very unlucky.

In saying all that, I thought you gave your Quaker away to someone in New York?
