Green Cheeked Conure called JellyBean
Guys, just want to see if anyone else has the same experience... JellyBean my GCC now sleeps in his sleeping cage in my and my partners bedroom. It all started with Jeff (my partner) away for a couple of weeks and I took the opportunity to have my little Bean upstairs with me.

So... all good when he goes to bed - at say 8pm - and we come up later, he sometimes gives little kissing noises and goes back to sleep - very sweet. But, 6.30am he gets up and then comes to the cage bars and bangs them to get attention.. Then he says "Jeff, Jeff Jeff.. Up Up Up" I pretend not to hear and then he starts "JellyBean.. JellyBean... Bean.. Jelly Baby"... Of course, I get him up.. then he comes to the bathroom when he knows where to poop and then comes back to bed to snuggle with me for a while... This is everyday - birds don't get weekend!!!! Hahahah

So, any friend I have told about this thinks I am crazy! Am I crazy? My world is ruled by a 70g bird...sigh...

So.. question.. do your fids rule your world???

That is so cute.

I have to place two Almonds in a treat dish before getting my first cup of coffee. Does not matter the sun is not up yet and the house is stone cold quiet. I AM UP . If I forget then the whole house gets woke up .

BB's cage is in what use to be the Dining room. NO WAY would I move that cage in my bedroom. I enjoy sleeping in to at least 7 am on Weekends. He gets up earlier but will not get loud until he hears us up.

If you are crazy, then so am I:)
My husband actually left my daughter's wedding reception to come home to take care of the birds..lol

We live in a little Airstream, so both my bird's cages are right by the bed. Jimmy is willing to sleep in a little, but Beau is up before the sun, calling "Hey you!" over and over until I feed him. Then he makes sure he grabs my finger and doesn't let go so I get him out and snuggle instead of going back to bed.

The last 2ish weeks I've had to get daily morning poop samples for the vet, so I get up before he does. Of course I'm dead tired at 5:30am. I'll stick him on the bird tree and wait for him to go and he just won't! I'll sit there waiting for 20 minutes before he finally decides to go, and by then I am too awake to go back to bed! He loves that :p

Penelope hears me blink when I wake up and immediately starts doing her I am awake screech. She gets her breakfast and sun lamp on before anything else can happen in the morning so you are definitely not crazy! I even have to wait to go out at night if I make plans with friends for a night out it can't happen till after birdie bedtime which is around 10pm...my 25 year old friends with no other responsibilities think I'm nuts and everyone laughs and cracks jokes at me for being the crazy bird lady :white1:

My daughter's wedding is 4/31 and I am in a panic, I have to leave JoJo with strangers for 4-5 days!!

Thinking this through, me thinks the lack of response to this thread is... In my case, JoJo didn't take over my life, she gave me a life!!

Yeah, for sure. I'm just always ON with Parker (male ekkie), much like having a child. And he's mostly a perch potato!! The irony here is that I've been looking hard at macaws lately, thinking how nice it would be to have one some day. But if a perch potato is taking over my life, imagine something that actually demands attention and is super active! Certainly won't happen as long as I have Parker.

But it's fine cause I'm not a super playful person to begin with so parkers the perfect bird for me :)

Oh yeah...my Sun has not only taken over my life, but my husband's and the dogs' lives too! Poor dogs can't get a nap because screech is always running over to them on the couch to chew on their ears! What is it with ears. Even having a hard time posting this because he's all over the iPad.:orange:

Oh yeah, cellphone and computer is just too irresistible for a conure!

My old laptop is missing keys as that was the favorite past time for awhile. Even though the computer is off limits to birds! Sigh...

Yep, as people will tell me, I live in Skittles apartment. I pay the rent and he lets me stay here. I live for him, no doubt about it.

Truthfully, though, I didn't have much of a life before he came along. I don't struggle to survive anymore. I strive to live as long as I can just to be near him.

I love how the message on the screen says 'seal out nature' hahaha.

I think they take over as much of your life as you'll allow (not that it's a bad thing, within reason). I wouldn't ever have a cage in the bedroom. We sleep in, and the birds are downstairs. They get fed and tended to when we wake up, not when they do, lol. (Otherwise, we might be up at 6 am, everyday...) Sometimes they come to work with us, but a webcam allows us to keep an eye on them from afar, and we've learned not to 'hover over' them every second.

SD, that's a nice sentiment, I'm glad your bird has improved your QOL :)

If my cockatiel, Peaches, is out of her cage and sees me on my phone or tablet then she will try her best to first bite the phone and then to press the touch screen with her tongue. Have watched a few weird YouTube videos this way ;)

Taken over is an understatement, lol. I found myself having to work till 6 the past couple of days, and as winter is just around the corner, I know my two goes to bed earlier now. So my normal mild sunny self becomes a grumpy troll at around 5. And colleagues can not seem to understand why it is so important to be home for bedtime. Its OK though, I understand and that is enough!

Congrats! My son is getting married on 4/30. We will be gone for 2 days. I do have a friend who is going to stop by and make sure Kiwi has fresh food and water. But she wont be happy stuck in her cage for two day. And I am sure I am not going to hear the end of it when I get back

One of Saltys favorite hangout spots is on the top of my tablet, on its stand. Once on there its anything goes, and he has managed to download some pretty off stuff (" Honest Honey, I don't go to the porn sites, Salty does, that bad boy! You know I don't like midgets with hairy backs and high heels!" ). And now the ceilings are festooned with yellow plastic chains, linking his cage with the table side circular perch and the manzanita play stand that is TV side. Not to mention the shower perch I permanently installed. Or the way Salty only has to give our Cairne Terrier, Tinker, a dirty look and
she moves from a dead sleep to scampering puppy.
