Yeah...
Meet Monty! Not much of a leap from 3 to 4 right?!? If you're making chop anyway, what's another beak to feed?
So since moving house, it has meant that the birds have more space in their room (they previously shared their room with a bookshelf and display cabinet). Fitting in another bird seemed more than tangible.
This little guy is well loved and was originally in a home with multiple humans who gradually moved out one by one, the last remaining human loved him dearly but felt that his having to travel around for work would leave Monty either alone or being looked after by others and passed around which would potentially cause him too much stress. He was offered to me without any charge and came with his cage and multitude of toys. How could I say no? He's gorgeous and rather charming and has already been saying "Hello" and "peekaboo" along with whistling and other sounds. His human even donated some cash to use on him for toys or a vet visit - which I was really shocked by! I've never known of anyone to rehome a parrot and give the recipient cash - What a really kind chap! It clearly shows his love for Monty and his wellbeing and also shows his awareness of how much is likely going to be spent on him in the long run. I suspect he's been rather spoilt on human foods and too many almonds and colourful pellets, so we'll work on transitioning him to a slightly healthier diet over the coming weeks. This evening he's having chop made from :
Kale
Bok Choy
Broccoli
Coriander
Bell Peppers
Chillis
Baby Sweetcorn
Radishes
Pomegranate
Oats
He seems to be enjoying it!
He's currently in the main living room for quarantine / transition. He and Dexter have already been calling to one another! I'm super happy to be having this little green Man join my flock
