Parrots
I now have a young Hahn's macaw. I used to have a Pacific Parrotlet that lived until almost 15. Before that I had a budgie.
I'm home with my male Hahn's macaw almost all day long, and spend most of that time in the bedroom with him, where he has his cage and play gym. I'll admit that sometimes I have him on the bed with me. It's OK because he is good about doing his little duty on demand where I want him to. He has oodles of toys on his play gym. Some are on the floor of the play gym, some in a white plastic "toy box" next to his play gym, which he can reach. Why doesn't he just play with them on the play gym like a good little boy? Instead, he takes every single toy, one-by-one, and brings it to the edge of the play gym and then tosses it onto the floor. Right now there are 16 toys on the floor. He won't pick them up. He wants ME to pick them up.In fact, when he drops them on the floor he then looks up at me. I don't praise that! I just shake my head. Then I eventually have to pick them up, and onto the floor they go again soon after. I can't think of any way of ending this obviously fun "game" of his.

Often I bring the toys onto the made bed and play with him there. It's kind of uncomfy to play on the floor. Again, he takes every toy and either throws it on the floor, or even worse, manages to climb to the headboard and toss them behind the bed, which is almost impossible to move. We gave him this fun little ring toy not long ago. He really enjoys it, but over the last month, the toy went from having 6 rings to now only 1 ring. Most are behind the heavy dresser or the bed or "eaten by snakes". I've tried to teach him to put them back on the ring holder after he tosses them off, but to no avail.

That is high entertainment for a bird....any bird. Trust me, the "I drop this, you pick it up" game is funner that tag, wrestling, hide and seek, peek a boo... It is the funnest game birds love to play with humans. From a budgie to a macaw or amazon to a friggin golden eagle dropping a goat off a mountain....it is their favorite game! Enjoy! and don't ever expect to win.

similar game my conure had with a bottle cap, though I had to catch it. If I didn't he would do a singular shriek and stare at me until I picked it up

Same game..... perhaps it's English rules? If only birds would publish manuals......

Oh yes another of Syd's fav games! In fact anything on a flat surface that he can manage to move goes the same way.

That's fun for him, annoying for you! That's their favorite game over all, sadly. I think it's funny how they find it so amusing, but annoying how they expect you to clean it up!

Dora loves playing this game LOL. It's amusing! I usually play along and say "Where did it go!?"

Ah it looks like you've also been successfully trained by your bird lol

I have a box of gumnuts and pinecones on Remi's cage and she takes great delight in tossing them off the side of her cage. There's a pair of gumnuts she seems to hate with a passion, and dramatically throws them too after a show of growling and hackling.

If I put the gumnut in front of her she'll daintly beak it with no reaction at all. Go figure!

The Rb loves this, too! My little Isaac Newton...

Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaavityyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
