English Budgie
Hi old friends and new members. I haven’t been here much in recent times, but I plan to check in much more upcoming.

My good girl, the best little English Budgie, had earned her wings. 3/8/2015 - 12/29/2025

Rest in peace little one. I cleaned her, took the last feathers to keep, talked to her for the last time and whispered my nighttime routine to her, one final time. Biiiig parakeet… put you eyes away… As she would tuck them in - if you know English budgies, when they close their eyes, the way their feathers are, the eyes seem to just disappear and go inside, and only a little crease in the feathers where the eye is remains. It is the cutest most adorable thing to see. I wish I had a pic of it, but the last pics here were of her about a week before her passing, and it was all I could get.

Besides being adorable, she will be remembered for her incredible personality. Engaging, gentle, and always stayed tame and willing to step up regardless of me not doing it often.

She is survived by my 31 year old heart bird Robin (Red Beliied), 12 year old Raven (Bronze Winged Pionus), and 11 year old Griffin (Ruppell’s Parrot), and our beloved dogs and cat.

I LOVE English Budgies and have 7 of them! They have such fluffy heads I wonder sometimes how they can see to fly around but they do. I'm so sorry your girl has left you, but she lived a pretty long life for an English. I lost an English girl last week myself, Mariah. She, too, was such a sweet gentle budgie, but was in poor health for the past year and was less than four years old.

Oh @RavensGryf, I'm so sorry for your loss of gorgeous Mink! It's so hard losing these precious ones, your little sweetheart was so blessed to have been loved by you for all the time she had. You have my most sincere condolences, these little ones take up such a big place in our hearts. Sending you a big hug and much love 💖

Oh I’m sorry to hear of your loss of Mariah. It’s so hard losing them at any age. My other budgies (one English and two standard) never made it past about 4.
For the past several years Mink had a benign tumor over her preen gland that was large and hung down. It had been surgically removed at one time, but the vet said it would keep growing back and it did. Toward the last couple weeks she had a couple other symptoms, and due to her age I knew this sad day was coming.

Thank you so much for your kind words 💜.
