Blue & Gold - Echo
Here is my new Blue & Gold Macaw baby. Not sure if it's a boy or girl yet. Should have the DNA results back in the next day or so.

What a beauty...

VERY pretty :) Looks like a real sweetie. Congratulations!

I'm gonna take a wild guess that it's a girl! A breeder friend told me the way he sexed B&G by the size of their head. While Males are more broad and female are more slender.

Yeah... he does look like a girl, doesn't he.... LOLOL

Thats's what we think too. LOL

Cute, cute cute! I have a 7 month old and I love seeing the changes in her as she starts getting more adult behavors and figuring things out. Mine is a female, she has a small slender head too :)

He/She is beautiful :D Have you decided on a Name yet?? Girls Name?Boys Name?

Well I am about to test your theory. :blue1: Here is my Sammy I sent away for the DNA results on Monday so we will know for sure real soon. I guess male from what you are saying. What do you think?

We named he/she Echo. Figured it was suitable since they repeat almost everything like a echo. Already laughs and says hello and we think I Love You but still not real clear yet.

Aww that is great Echo is talking already! Mine's still figuring out she can make noise :)

Thank you. She also rolls over onto her back when I pet her and snuggles with me. I can even lay her down on her back on my hand and lift her up. She wont move at all.

If you get the pic from the front so we can see his head. When my breeder friend brought the different sexes side by side its very evident of the difference in the shape of their head. Afterall its just a wild guess since I don't breed macaws... I've got a male and my breeder friend told me he's a boy. During his hormones he was into his toys....lol....so that's been proven to be correct.

Sammy is starting to roll over and snuggle too. Yesterday he started flying to me... Sounds like we will be going through things around the same time.. Good luck I am sure you love your little one as much as I love Sammy.

Here is more photos of Sammy. Make your best guesses!

His head definatly looks wider then mine. Then again my B&G is on the small side anyway, but her head is very slender and girly looking. :D

This is Riley 11 weeks old - we also think she is a girl, we dont want to have her sexed - it sounds very painfull.

My wild guess is that Sammy is a boy! :)

It didn't seem that painfull at all. They did it when we had Echo's nails cut. Took about 30 seconds tops at our local bird store.
