He is already tame. He came right up. He comes up for my mom too. Poor guy has been so badly clipped he can't fly at all.

He is extremely cute! Any ideas on names yet?

A cute boy Cockatiel!!! :)

Since he can't fly right now, it's actually easier for you to get acquainted. I do clip my baby tiels before they go to their new homes but I'm a pro at doing the right clip. I find that it helps the new owners to get acquainted easier. A newly acquired cockatiel that flies is kinda asking for trouble as they'll freak out in their new surroundings and can hurt themselves flying into walls, windows, etc. I'll raised and trained hundreds of Cockatiels throughout the years.

Mickey thank you for responding. What concerns me is that he just drops. I already had to pull out a broken blood feather and stop the bleeding. Well actually my mom pulled it cuz I was scared to hurt him. I stopped the bleeding. I just got some quick stop and other goodies for him at my pet shop.

I don't mind the current noise level but I'm glad it's not much louder.:).

Aww..congrats! I know my flock is full but I will probably end up with a cockatiel or budgie/parakeet sometime for my granddaughters. I used to raise them years ago and I really miss them! Your new baby is beautiful!

Congratulations, he's so adorable! Great choice! Have fun with your new baby.

After the blood feather incident I was going to leave him in cage to settle in. I had Ace out and the tiel was begging to come out. Sitting at door and chirping loudly. Trying to open door etc so he and Ace spent an hour together on top of the cage.

It looks like they'll become friends afterall! If no hostility at the beginning, it's a good sign. Good, I know that's what you wanted :).

He's going though his major molt right now. Blood feather will be expected. When you do have him out keep him at a low level and a blanket on the floor to prevent him getting hurt or busting his blood feathers. Corn starch will stop bleeding as well. It's best to pull the blood feathers when they bust.

Congrats on your new fid! He is adorable!!

I guess Jet needs a little time to settle in. The past 2 days he won't step up. He hisses and beaks fingers instead. He will eat out of my hand though.
