Aww..she is sure pretty. Such a sweet looking RFM. I love mine so very much and really enjoy him. I got Valentino as a baby so he has been with me since December 2012. He will be two this coming August.
Yara is still very young and should settle in your home pretty quick. I would love to know more about her and how you came to have her join your family. As naughty as a RFM can be they still endear themselves to me and I can't help but love them. Right now Valentino is spending time in his cage for his independent play time and he is talking away saying "good parrot", "I love you", "good boy", "What cha doing?" all sorts of things. He will even sound just like my Noble macaw Julio and I can't tell them apart unless I am standing right there and can hear which parrot said it. LOL.
The day I brought Valentino home. I had just taken him out of his carrier with him stepping right up. I love how he fluffs his head right away with being touched/petted.
Within the first week of Valentino's homecoming I began table training him. I was teaching him table manners by having him join us for dinner.
I learned that RFM's love to hug with their wings. Valentino loves to hug me and I find it very endearing when he does it.
One of my favorite pictures of Valentino. He is such a sexy beast in this pose. LOL
Okay enough picture bombing your thread of Valentino. I hope you enjoy Yara as much as I enjoy Valentino. Birdman is right about the RFM being playaholics. One challenge I face with Valentino is finding toys that can entertain him enough. He is very smart and even when I got him African grey brain thinking foraging toys he figures them out to quickly. I am going broke finding toys to make him think and toys for him to destroy. He is a chewer and has to have his wood to destroy.
