So I have been volunteering at a rescue/sanctuary for over a year. I met a lovely little sun conure named Bindi who is 5-6 years old. She and I have been good friends since I started volunteering there (she cuddles in my shirt while I take care of other birds), and I’ve always wanted her to come home with me eventually. Today, I finally took the plunge and brought Bindi home. She and I have built quite a bond over the last year. I have a sun and a green cheek that are 6 and 2 respectively (Baby and Tango). Bindi is isolated from them for now, but I do hope that once I introduce them that they will eventually become friends :). I’m quite prepared to divide my time between them, but I will hope for gradual acceptance!

I couldn’t insert a picture, so here’s a link to a picture of Bindi in one of my albums.

Congratulations on your newest family member! Bindi is gorgeous:) I'm so happy for you both!

She’s so pretty! I have always been enchanted by the colors on a sun.

Well I’m quite happy - Bindi is an “only eats seed” bird. We tried chop today and got a very messy beaky. Some of it even went INTO the beak :D. It’s so much fun watching that little tongue poke at everything, consider the taste and then go back and root around in it. I consider it good progress for day one.

Got some snuggles in, rearranged her cage to better suit her and will leave her to explore her new home (cage) some more. Bindi’s wings are clipped (and I’m not used to that) so had to put more travel paths in her cage today. I know she was flighted at one time, so when her flights grow back she’ll get to keep them.
