Hi all I am a new member to this site looking for help. I have a conure. He or she has been with me and my husband for over 10 years. We rescused him not knowing anything about conures.
We have had to move to an apartment and unless I can find a way to keep him from squacking I will have to find him a new home. Any ideas would be helpful.

Hello Marsha, welcome to the forum! If you could tell us a little more about your circumstances we would be better able to help. It sounds like you just recently moved, is that right? Did the squawking start immediately after the move or was he squawking before you moved? It's possible your conure is not yet comfortable in his new home. Is at least one side of his cage against a wall? That can help a nervous bird feel more secure. Have you spent less time with him during the move? Maybe he just needs some time to adjust. Ten years is a long time, I hope the squawking is temporary and your conure can stay with you. Best of luck.

Hi, have you been told to keep him quiet or find a new home? If not, and you're just assuming that would happen, I wouldn't worry. I've lived in several apartments before where there was myself with birds as well as neighbors with all kinds of parrots including loud conures and Cockatoos. Unless it is way over the top and at an unacceptable time for noise, it should be okay. Remember that people have loud tv's or music, parties or loud family members, dogs barking, birds... Etc, and all this on a regular basis. It is actually rare to hear noise complaints because of parrots unless it is literally incessant. Good luck.
