Hi.
I have a Norwegian Blue Parrot ( born last year ).
( He is not scared of me or my family,he eats/drinks )
He won't sleep.
I don't have any lights on or the TV.
What should I do?
Should I cover his cage?
Should I get him a sleeping hut?

Parrots do best when they have a consistent sleep schedule. How long have you had your parrot? If he’s still settling in, that may be part of it. Many parrots sleep better when covered or partially covered. I would stay away from sleeping huts (they’re dangerous and unnecessary). Does your bird have a variety of perches that he can choose a comfy one to sleep on?

Um, were you really told that he's a "Norwegian Blue", or are you joking? That's a fictional species name from a famous comedy sketch. The parrot in your avatar is an Indian Ringneck.

I hope he hasn’t shared the same fate as that one in the sketch!

I was not told what kind of parrot he is so I searched up "blue parrot" and I found a picture of a parrot that looked like him.

(Thank you for your reply)

Welcome to the forums! You have a serious issue worthy of assistance.

Many birds do not sleep continuously for hours as do humans and common household companions. As creatures of prey, they easily awake to monitor the environment. To ensure solitude, you may consider a cover if the room is not sufficiently dark and quiet.

Fabric sleeping huts are among the most dangerous of cage accessories. Birds often pick the thin strands and ingest, potentially causing a horrendous death.

Oh good, I thought the seller must have told you the wrong name on purpose, which would have worrying implications about the kind of operation they're running. I'm glad to have helped you at least ID your new family member now, IRNs (Indian Ringnecks) are the coolest in my very biased opinion. ;)
