What a beautiful bird!
The pionus parrot has definetly captured my heart, that is for sure. It's a shame I don't see them to often.
Thank you for sharing a photo of your feathered companion!

Awww, how beautiful!

I am greenwith envy.

Beautiful.

Not meaning to be a jerk but a running ceiling fan is a real hazard.

Not meaning to be a jerk but a running ceiling fan is a real hazard.

I'm glad you mentioned this, I saw it and got nervous just looking at the photo, but didn't want to say anything to be critical...However, it really must be said that you should never, ever, ever, ever have a ceiling fan running at any time your bird is out of his cage!!! Please, take this to heart, because the famous last-words in this situation are always something to the effect of "It's fine, he never leaves my shoulder", or "It's fine, he knows about ceiling fans and he doesn't go near them", or any number of other statements that are made right before the bird gets seriously injured or killed by the ceiling fan. It should just be a rule in any house with a bird that BIRD OUT OF CAGE=ALL CEILING FANS OFF...

sorry guys being new to the parrot world didn't think about it. previous owner, who have foe her first ten year told us not to worry about the fans when she brought to us, but what you said makes sense since she has free roam of our house, if I make any other glaring mistakes don't hesitate to let know no bad feelings here just want to learn

Congrats on your new baby! She is so beautiful. Pionus are the best of the best.

Glad you happened to just post a picture with the fan running for us to raise the klaxons about! A bit of a happy coincidence. Other things to look at -- no large areas of deep water, remove exposed insecticide or rodenticide, don't use aerosols like Lysol, Febreze, don't cook with Teflon or non-stick pans.

I totally agree with Paisa! Pionuses are the best. I totally fell in love with mine! (Of course, I fall "head over heels" for all my birds! HAHA) This is from a conure addict, Pionuses so rock!!!

Here is where I get to tell you about mine.
Sherman Sherman Sherman she's so cool and laid back! She's the best! Sherman may limp and not fly, but I love Sherman! Sherman Sherman Sherman

Now there's a handsome Pi in a spacious cage and room with a view.
