Honestly! All he wants to do is make love to my hands! He's even regurgitating on them! Euuwww! That's not right...

Of course, I try to discourage this behaviour but Barn's pretty persistent. He tries to have a bit of a fling with Madge every now and again, but she's majorly not interested in his little dance he does with the eye-pinning and all. For a while, he was displaying away at his own reflection in the TV screen, but now he's discovered irresistible charms in my hands. Why???

And why won't Madge respond to his advances? Sometimes, if I give her a smear of peanut butter or honey on my finger, Madge will do the whole feeding-response thing that chicks do. She vibrates away on the end of my finger as if I were her Mummy. Why is that? Should I discourage that as well?

I feel I need to consult a birdie-therapist to get the guys back on track...

You might want to wear some protection!!! Hate for you to start laying eggs! lol

Spring is in the air! Being in Queensland it happened a few weeks earlier up here. Elroy the hahns is pretty good in terms of springtime behaviour but got very aggressive a few times when new people (always women) were around. He was always still managable but definately bit harder and a lot more (still never blood so I guess he is still holding back). Luckily it only lasted two weeks or so. Your Alex will get over it soon :) I guess until then just discourage the behaviour as much as possible.

Awwwww no cheeky thing lol!! -__-

Captsteve, I was eating noodles when I read your reply! Snorting a noodle out one's nose is not a pleasant experience: please think before you post these things!!! Protection indeed! (Rubber gloves...?) :D :D :D

Sorry about the noodles!!!

I was thinking a nice form fitting, texturized latex to increase the... nah! lol:09::09::09:

CaptSteve, you are a BOLD boy! :P :P :P

Our eccy male, Alex, always goes through a period in spring when he wants to hump my hand and feed my thumb:) Weird thing is, that his male 'tiel companion, Ariel, comes in really close to watch the action- sometimes Alex feeds him, but what he really wants is a scratch- but not with my free hand, that gets bitten, Ariel has to be scratched by the hand that Alex has been amorous with and is now sitting on comfortably. The other weird thing is that Alex spends the day with a female eccy, on the verandah. He totally ignores her! It's Ariel that gets "preened", at the expense of his crest:)

Feeling your pain - my too wakes me with her "mating calls" starting around 6:30 every morning from her sleep cage. I've been working to reverse the behavior for nearly two months now. We had some initial progress, but she's become a sex-obsessed nightmare over the past week or two, and it seems like nothing is working. She's SO persistent. :(

If you end up finding something that works, please share!

I am laughing so hard right now!!! oh my gosh!!!

The same thing is happening to my half moon conure! She hasn't been getting much attention recently because instead of stepping up on my hand to go around the house with me, she gets all frisky and sees my hand as a mate instead of a perch and refuses to step up. Will this pass, or do I need to re-train her to step up onto my hand?

I about died when I read this..... :18::18::18::18::18:

Now back on the subject, yes please do discourage them from doing so cause it can get worse as they persist to do so. They can develop aggression from doing so if you don't show interest back.

You're absolutely right, Mikey! Barney has been getting pretty nippy lately, so I've been distracting him by doing other things (ie. lots of training). He seems to be rather better today and has been really good with his trick training. :D

I have a friend with a too that has that same problem, laurend. She has gone so far to master-debating on her cage...
The description he gives is raunchy.
And her mating behaviours, the aggressiveness, the excessive neediness, and the screaming, are all getting to him!!

My girl doesn't scream much (I got lucky with my too there!) and she isn't aggressive, but darn is she persistent! She wants to nest, nest, nest all of the time.

She screams. She says "ca-caw!" I think it's funny. But I don't live there ;)

Lol...I know what you are talking about! Chrissy the B&G Macaw is also a sex-fiend! She prefers to give her attentions to hubby but now shes trying to give me some attention too. We dont know what to do about it either. We thought she might be going through a phase but shes pretty constant. We are wondering if this might be hormone related or just a behaviour thing shes doing. We try to discourage her by ignoring her behaviour or just moving away from her. She is really persistant.
