Notwithstanding the price, this looks like a great idea. Clipping the tip can be done without actually having to position the clipper to avoid taking too much. I think it would work great for those stealthy trims while your bird is perched on your hand. I'm going to try one.

Honestly, I don't really like the nail clippers specificity for birds. It makes my bird's toenails look all wonky for a little bit, and yes I am trimming them properly. I watched a YouTube video that recommends using human nail clippers for birds. Here is the link:

Heh, it's not likely one is going to hold a parrot in one hand like that ;) Most vets and groomers towel the bird for toe clipping.

It looks to me that with the device I listed, it determines and regulates how much you clip off by the size of the hole and would allow one to just slip it on the nail while the bird is perching and clip just the tip without any fuss. Now I just have to determine which size.
