need some help please!

I have two lovebirds, they’re brothers and they’re 6 years old
i’ve had them since they were babies.
All through their life they’ve had a hanging tent which they sleep in.
(it’s not a fuzzy one)
I replace it as necessary but within the last couple of months one of them has begun chewing on it. I replaced it just a few weeks ago and once again it’s being chewed. I am concerned and have removed it from their cage. I believe it could be dangerous to keep it in as he could be ingesting the fibres he chews off. My question is why has he just started chewing? is there any replacement for the tent as they sleep in there and feel safe in there. They seem confused that I have removed their home. I don’t know what to do, any advice would help. Thank you

Almost every parrot loves to chew on things you did right by removing it you could add some natural materials they can chew on and then add the tent again to see if that works

Parrots don't need tents or enclosures. The only time you want to introduce something like that is if you want to induce hormones. Don't think of it as a 'home' (your house and their cage is their 'home') - a tent or any enclosure that encourages shadows is a cue to them that they have what they need to make babies. Which means it results in nesting behaviour, aggression, frustration, etc.

If you want they to have natural materials to stand on, get a seagrass platform, but hang it so there isn't any hideaway space.

If you want them to have a place to peek out from, hang toys around a high perch or put up veggie cuttings to be foliage.
