hey joker, trying to help you out here. looked up some stuff, and i think you might have a rare find here. i think it might be a purple bellied parrot. here's a website that might help you on info. i didn't read through all of it. but the pictures are close to what you have posted. i hope this helps you out.Breeding the Purple-bellied Parrot - Page 1

I have never seen this particular Bird, but it is beautiful.

I think it may be a different kind because the picture of the bird in the artical does not have an eye ring and the picture of Jokers bird there is a distinct eye ring. almost like a conure of some type. very pretty bird

Could it be a hybrid? Green Conure x Purple Bellied? It doesn't quite have the feather structure of the Purple Bellied, but it's belly is unmistakable!

i have never seen a bird like that. so pretty though!

thanks to all

yes, I also suspect that it is a hybrid, but I'm not sure.

I dont have a guess, but what a beauty. Is this your bird, if so name please ?

My first thought was a pionus but I am not sure..

I believe that this beautiful bird is a Blue Bellied Parrot. (Or a Purple Bellied; It's the same thing.) The bird in this picture has a distinct eye ring, just like Joker's.

This is not my picture, I took it from Google Images. =)

Some birds, when kept outside, the white eyering turns dark. This has been noticed in conures, caiques and poicephalus.

Being outside doesn't guarantee that the eyering will darken, and it seems that it happens most frequently in young parrots who go outside vs adults - if it does happen at all.

So I really don't think the bird is a hybrid, and has been correctly identified.

I'm most curious to know where this bird is, as it's certainly not common within captivity in Australia, North America or Europe.

Can you post a full body picture of it so we can see what the tail looks like also? Thanks!

This is one type of bird I've never seen around....they're quite pretty!!!

It's a male purple bellied parrot.
Exciting! I've always been after the rare species, and have kept some interesting species in the past. :)
I'm not aware that those are in the US, or if so, rarely as breeders? What country are you in?

Beautiful bird! :)

Thread is more than a year old. The OP only posted those 2 times and has not been active since. Doubt you'll get a reply.

Oh! I could have sworn I saw this under "today's posts" :52:.... sorry if I was hallucinating! :)

Looks like a white eyed conure to me.

White eyed conures don't have the purple belly..... plus, they are also a different color of green.
