Hey everybody! I'm new to this forum and new to the parrot world
I am looking for any helpful hints while trying to make my new conure comfortable.
We just brought him/her home last night (3/4/2013)
She's (I'm calling her that lol) been rather quiet and sleeping a lot!
She's only 6 months old and I was told from the pet store I bought her from that she will grow out of biting and when she learns to trust us. It's hard to get her out of the cage cause she constantly goes at our finger. I have given her sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds to hopefully win her over. I talk to her often and in a high pitch voice. She's just now this evening come out of her shell a little and started squealing at me lol
Also when I am able to get her out she flies straight to the floor (wings are clipped) and every time I tell her "step up" she will be then will flap right off and tries to go towards her cage.
Is there anything I can do differently?
I was told by a friend who has 2 to get her wrapped up in a towel and hold her close and talk to her and eventually she will calm down and trust me. I did that today and it worked. She allowed me to rub the top of her head while she closed her eyes.
Thanks in advance for any helpful tips
