So I went to the store and saw some adorable parakeets and fell in love. So i was just wondering. If I do end up getting one is there a way I can tell if its a boy or girl? Also which are easier to train female or male. Lastly my green cheek conure died so my apartment most of the day is lonely until all my roommates come from class. So is it okay to just get one (I just dont want it to be lonely) or should I get 2? Thanks:blue2:

When the parakeets are older the males have blue ceres(nostril area) and the girls have white to brown ceres. Males are usually better talkers, and for training it is better to keep one otherwise he will bond to the other parakeet and most likely wont want anything to do with you.

Also what are some methods to train parakeets. I was able to train my GCC but I think he was already somewhat train before I got him so not sure.

It is tricky to sex the younger ones sometimes because the young females can have a bluish hue to their ceres with whitish circles around their nostrils until they get a little older. When I worked at a pet store, it was always hard to say because the babies sent to us were usually young but we didn't truly know how old they were.
