Cinnamon Green Cheek Conure
today I got a baby cinnamon green cheek and from my knowledge she is 3 months old finished hand feeding 2 days ago. was in a house full of birds in a smaller cage and I brought her home into a slightly loud house with alot going on any ideas on what I can do to help her transition. she has bit a few times, fist was right after the guy I got her from clipped her Beek, nails and feathers. any help and advice would be great. although she didn't want to be handled she loved taking pictures

Beautiful little girl! What's her name?
Put yourself in her position and you would be terrified also! At this point, she thinks you are going to eat her! They are cuddle bums and she will warm up quickly! What is her main cage?

Welcome to the forums. Congrats, your baby is a beauty. At three months she will still be a little clumsy. It may be hard for her to climb. I would add some perches for her, a variety of widths and textures. She will adjust to her new surroundings.

Every new GCC I meet affirms why they are so very popular.
Great-looking little fid!
Oh, and welcome. Glad you found us!

Ohhh i love the cinnamons! They are little birds but think they are big! I love them so much and wish I could have one! They need structure and lots of love. The experts will chime in but in brief, give baby time to sleep, time with family, time to play alone, lots of different good foods, and find times to train. They're so smart that training is like play.

Congratulations to you!

thank you, i thought they were about the same size of the gcc which is still pretty small lol i saw a pink cockatoo at the bird store it was so cool and so fun to interact with. my dad has a sun which incuraged me to get this little girl expecially with a price that cant be beat.

how long does it normally take for these guys to get comfortable? should i avoid trying to handle her? or should I try and handle her? the only time i dont get bit is when i use a towel to pick her up and hold her

I wouldnt try to do anything she doesnt want to do right now. By the end of a week she should be fairly comfortable. Dont force handling, not sure by with a towel you mean toweling her, as in throwing it over her to pick her up but if so definitely do not do that right now, thats really only for emergencies or if needed when clipping nails, beak etc. Youre going to scare her and thats not what you want. Sit by her cage and talk to her and offer some treats, see if she will eat out of your hand. Work slowly and slowly and when shes a little more comfortable work on having her step up to your finger. You mention she bit you, thats going to happen. If she bites it means youre doing something she doesnt want done, so back off. For this first week dont push any boundaries but in the future discourage biting by positively reinforcing when she is good and leaving her alone when she bites, but its inevitable to happen sometimes. Also like mentioned, the cage is definitely not too big, but you should get lile 3 or 4 more perches in there. Perches are where she will be playing with her toys on and with just one she probably cant reach all the toys too. You can sit by the cage and open the door and just talk to her. If she doesnt want to come out dont force her, eventually she will come out to explore. Once shes comfortable eating treats from your hand you can slowly work on getting her to step up on your finger, and if thats going slow, try a perch. You have to slowly build trust and this first week is more so about her adjusting so dont go too far and scare her or that trust will be flawed and take longer to build.
Also, what kind of diet is she currently on? You can start introducing fresh fruits and veggies soon now so she grows to like fresh foods when shes young!
She looks like a healthy happy little GCC, hope everything goes great!

I wouldnt do any grabbing for now unless really needed. You dont want her to form a fear of hands or worse, you. Just let her set the pace as far as how much she wants to be handled and touched jntil shes totally comfortable in her new house. Great that she likes fruit, just domt give avocados and stay away from peanuts. Is she on a pellet diet?

Cool, havent used zupreem, Loco likes his Harrisons but I know they are a reputable company. Keep us updated, she may be shy at first but once you win her trust and build a bond it will be worth it.
