I am not a new member, but I do have a new baby, so I am trying to learn everything I can about the breed, and advise....I haven't named her yet, as I need to find an appropriate name for the personality....living in the mountains of Mexico, the state of Sinaloa, to be exact, in one of the best birding areas, there are many babies that fall from trees, etc...and this one may have. It was brought to me and given as a gift, a unfeathered, parrotlet, very very young. I have only had adult big birds in the past, so didn't know much about hand feeding. So the person who gave to me, and has rescued in the past, told me to feed it corn flour mixed with water, so then I read some of what and how to do it....and we are off to a great start....1st off, I live in a very small mountain village of about 200 people and one and a half hours from a town large enough to have a Petco. So I couldn't get bird formula, so I am making do, and we are on a lock down because of the Corvid 19 virus right now....yesterday, I did buy 2 small jars of baby food, carrots and mango, at one of our 2 very small tiendas, and have been adding a very small amount to her corn flour gruel....she loves it. I am feeding her with a syringe and she is eating about 5 to 7 cc a feeding.... I would just like some opinions, advise, or anything you would like to suggest...I would also love to hear from other parrotlet owners....the one that lives in our area, is basicly called a Mexican parrotlet, mostly green, with a little blue. Thanks in advance.
