New Blue Front Amazon

I recently agreed to care for my Dad's Blue Fronted Amazon Parrot because he is unable to care for it any longer.

I was wondering if there is any way to age the bird. All I know about it is my Dad has had it for at least 12 years and it looked to be about the same size it is now at that time.

Also I would love to know what the band on it's foot means. Its a silver, incomplete circle on it's left foot with the markings "ckc 723".

Any info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance!

That's a open QT band. The amazing was imported into the USA through a QT station in California. It's hard to find out information on these birds, by Galah had open bands as well. All you can assume the amazon came to the USA in the early 90's or earlier. You might want to consider getting your birds vet to cut it off, open bands can be a hazard.
