Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and new to owning a green cheek conure. I went to a local store and they had about 10 babies but then she showed me a 3 year old who someone just dropped off at the store because they were moving. Well it was love at first sight. He was letting me pet him all over and cuddling me like crazy. Well I have had him home now a short time and he let's me scratch him like crazy through the cage bars and loves it is much, hates my husband lol. Well he is missing a total if 3 toe nails and I'm not sure if part of the toe also but he seems to have a hard time holding onto the bars, he fell twice and slips a lot. He will not step up on my finger to come out, I think because he is unsturdy I have to reach in and grab him, he runs around the cage when I do it but never has bitten me yet. When he is out he cuddles like crazy. I am teaching him to step up but he is also wobbly with it. My question is what is a better way to try to get him out of his cage, I have ropes outside the doors and leave them open and he hasn't come out on his own yet so I know he is still a little scared. Any advice would be wonderful I want to raise a great bird and companion.
