Keats (budgie) born Feb. 18, 2011, and Raphael (budgie) adopted July 3, 2011. Finn, a Brown-Head Poicephalus, born January 4, 2010, has also joined the family!
I took Keats in for a nail trim this afternoon...and we came home with a new friend - a second budgie :)

I've suspected that Keats really missed other birds. He was parent-raised and lived in an aviary and then in a cage full of other budgies before he came here. Our CD birdsong made him super-happy, as did birds singing outside. I didn't expect the reaction he had when we went to the bird store today though. He was very interested in the other birds.

I always like to visit them, so of course I checked them out. Turns out someone had surrendered a sweet, two-year-old budgie just 15 minutes before we arrived - because she didn't like his coloring  I really don't understand that. He was so tame, he stepped right up on my finger, so we put him in the travel cage with Keats. They had some showing off to do and gave each other a few challenges, but every time the other bird turned away, Keats went right up to him and sat beside him.

So...how could I not bring him home?

Oh, and those colors? A beautiful sherbet blend of blue, yellow and green. He's a beautiful birdie! Now, we need a name. I'm trying to decide between Raphael and Pemberley.

Congrats on the new birdie, some things are just meant to be.

I like the name Raphael! Congrats on the new guy!

Oh! I almost forgot! Any chance of pictures of the new guy? His colours sound lovely!

A little blurry, but these are my boys :)

Oh they're so lovely! How could someone give up a bird for not liking their colouring...

Congrats on your new baby!

Congrates ~~ nice to see Keats got a new friend ~~ ^^

They are both beautiful!

Beautiful keets! He sure is a lucky one for choosing you lol. I absolutely LOVE his coloring!

they're both so cute! such beautiful birds, how could anyone give up a bird because of color... that's birdie racist! D:

Thanks for all the kind words everyone :) Raphael is settling in nicely. Tonight, he and Keats were chirping up a storm! He is a really good bird, and yes, both birds are really beautiful. I feel very lucky.
