Hey everyone!

I am a veterinarian (though not avian) and I had always wanted a Jardines...
I went to an aviary for one and an Amazon baby chose me... So she joined my family. Amazing bird. Omg. The love you have for a parrot blew me away. She passed away suddenly from a tragic freak cage accident. She got her foot through the hole that was in the swing out food dish door... And panicked. I was at work. Came home and was devastated. It took years to get over that. Here we are 10 years later. I have teenage sons. I am no longer working 7 days a week and actually changed careers to do medical transcription from home. So now that the kids are bigger, I am home virtually all the time... I will be a bird mom again. I am still leaning towards a Poicephalus though who knows what will happen when I go visit my aviary this time. Looking forward to meeting fellow bird fans!

Welcome to the forums! I'm really sorry to hear about the tragic loss of your beloved amazon.

I'm happy to hear you are opening your heart and home to a feathered companion. Enjoy the journey.

Also Welcome, to the Parrot Forums.

So very sorry for your loss. Amazon's so quickly fill and open our hearts. Their loss is lasting, however they also create a want to be filled yet again. Been there and know both the loss and the need.

Your process in allowing the parrot too select you is so rewarding. Thank-you!

Again, welcome!

Hi there, welcome to the forum! I'm sorry to hear about your previous experience with a bird. I'm glad you're going to go for it again :). Looking forward to seeing what you end up getting, and hearing all about it!

Welcome. Horrible accident! Depending on where in Colorado you are, make a trip up to Loveland and visit Avalon Aviary! I was just there today, they are almost overrun with rescues! Dozens of beautiful creatures that are in need of a home!

Actually Avalon is the aviary I use and they have red bellies.....

Deep condolences for your loss. It can take years to recover from the hurt and consider another parrot.

Welcome to the forums, you'll meet many enthusiastic folks eager to share their experiences.

Put a deposit on a......drum-roll...... Red bellied parrot! Will go visit and who knows....maybe something different will think I'm the soul mate LOL

Ooooh, RavensGryf (Julie) will be thrilled!
