I just responded to your other post lol! Congrats---so cute.
Things to remember:
1.Patience....bird time is like snail time- SLOOOWED DOWN. There will likely be a honeymoon, followed by rudeness.
2.Work on building trust above all else(step-ups can wait)
3. Don't get offended if bird picks one family member over the others---this often shifts with the wind (puberty, routines, trust, etc all feed into this).
4. Puberty is a pain in the butt, so try not to get your bird in the habit of being petted in overly-sexual ways...For me, I stick to petting my bird's head only, with under-wing scratches once in a blue moon (2 seconds max ) lol.
5. Take lots of videos and pictures so that you can look back and see how far you have come.
6. Look into ABA (applied behavior analysis). It works for people and birds.
7. Don't provide more attention than you will be able to sustain in the future---yes, the first few days, fine...but it is easy to get so excited that you spend all of your time with your "baby", and you WON'T be able to sustain that rate of attention forever, so be mindful of this when setting boundaries
