My name is Kim and I currently have 3 birds.

Little peep, a tame canary. I purchased him out of the nest and hand fed him.
Juniper, English Budgie. Purchased him as a young adult and only semi tame.
Then my baby Linnie. S/he has not been named yet and I'm currently hand feeding him/her.

Awesome, welcome. :) What species is Linnie? Would love to see some photos of your little guys. :)

Welcome! I find it really interesting that you have a hand fed canary. I had no idea that canaries could be handled like a parrot. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought hand feeding was done in order to get the bird used to humans for things such as handling and such. Or for canaries is it done for a different reason perhaps just to allow them to be used to our presence? Very interesting! I'm so curious to hear your reply :)

BirdLover80 ~ A ‘Linnie’ is a Lineolated Parakeet AKA Barred Parakeet. They are actually a parrot and are a bit different. Usually quite calm and can talk pretty well. They really are an awesome little bird, but then aren’t all birds awesome? LOL The baby is hard to get pics of, won’t stay still, but I’ll post a video too.

Kalal ~ You are correct when it come to hand feeding. My ‘tame’ canary isn’t tame like a parrot or parakeet would be. But he is not scared of me and when having free flight time he will land on be and chat a bit. I can’t touch him and if I try to catch him he does run from me. But I love the interaction we have and he is much calmer since he’s not afraid.

(I hope the pictures work, I couldn't figure out any other way to include them)
