I am Angela and I am mommy to Piper, a 10 month old CAG whom I've had since he was 4 months old. He is such a sweetheart and so smart, a very big comedian. I just took in a Blue Front Amazon yesterday that is in really bad shape. Some lady dropped him off at our local pet store and the store owner called me since she has no experience with large birds and asked if I'd take it. I wasn't expecting what I saw when I got there. He was in a cage that is fit for a parakeet and they were feeding him wild bird food, he had no toys and 1 broken perch. His left eye was scabbed over and has feathers plucked from the top of his head and on his right wing. I took him to the vet right away and hopefully we can save the eye. He is underweight and has something wrong with his foot so he cannot climb or grasp very well. He is now in a very large Macaw sized cage and I have him eating the proper food and he is settling in. My son named him Rio. He has a long road ahead of him but the vet said he is healthy besides being neglected.

Poor little bugger, so lucky Rio has you now to care for him. Sad when people neglect their birds.

He's been hanging out on the bottom all day so I moved his food & water to the bottom, as well as a perch. I'm hoping he realizes he is safe and doesn't have anything to worry about soon. It breaks my heart looking at him

And thank you, Piper is a nut !!! He is very sweet and is your typical toddler .... curious and into everything.

So glad you took in Rio I can never get to grips with how someone can neglect a bird so badly He has a beautiful new cage to go in and im sure he will recover soon. Piper looks adorable

Thank you all for the warm welcome. It'll be nice to have someone to talk to about my feathered babies ( and it looks like there are other horse lovers as well ) I have a little bit of everything, a Boxer named Ava, a cat (Perry in the picture), 2 birds, a Thoroughbred named Falcon Scott, 5 frogs, multiple fish and a Dumbo rat named Daisy. Can't forget my 3 human children and my husband too.

Cockatiel, You are not too late to find him, lol.

I am very glad you rescued that amazon. He is a sad site and I hope you can get him healthy soon.

I also have a TB and a half Appy/half TB. And my Grey kisses my cat as well.

I seen your post about your TB's unofficial birthday, they are wonderful horses. Everyone thinks I'm crazy since all of my animals coexist and don't try to eat each other, lol. Of course they are never left unattended together.
