New Macaw owner from San Francisco!!

Hi everyone!!! My name is Celia and my family and I are lucky new parents to a Catalina Macaw, Katie!

My husband has owned a Cockatoo and I have owned a Cocktail before, so this Macaw business is new to us! We adopted Katie last week, she is 23 years old and her owner had serious medical problems and had to surrender her.

We immediately fell in love with her sweet but crazy personality and were lucky enough she liked us back! It's only been a week at our house and she is such an affectionate girl!! She loves to give kisses and getting rubbed, we feel so lucky that she picked us!!!

Since I'm very new to all this, I've read as many books as I could and thought I'd join a message board with so many experienced owners that are the best resource!! Thank you so much!!!

Welcome Celia and Katie, thanks for joining! Macaws are stunningly beautiful parrots with magnificent personalities. At two weeks you are still in the honeymoon phase, but there is much to be said for her "choosing you."
