Hi ALL,
I am Figo, and currently looking for a Macaw Parrot as a pet.
Can anyone lead me to the gathering and know how to get a Macaw?
1) How much?
2) What is the requirement and know how to keep a Macaw?
3) How to train the bird to talk and fly out and back?
4) Should I start with the Song Bird first? - Cheaper and I heard that it can be trained to fly out and back?

Thank you and I am happy be part of the Bird family.

Best Regards,
Figo :blue:

The first thing is to research A LOT.
Have you kept a parrots before? Macaws are typically one of the hardest species to care for if you are new to birds , but there are times where people succeed with very hard work and lots of dedication to them.

Their are multiple species of Macaws which can range (from what I've seen) $700-17,000. The price range is very diverse depending on where you live and who and where you purchase one. But that only covers the bird. Keep in mind of the supplies and the damage they can cause to your home.

Theres no guarantee that a bird will talk, there is a higher chance of them speaking versus another species but its a shot in the dark. But usually repeating words over and over would help them start mimicking.

Songbirds like Canaries aren't known to be tamed unless you raised one from day one. They are usually chosen as aviary birds, or birds you can sit back and watch and enjoy their singing (but you still need to take care of them like a parrot-just clearing that up). Could you please expand on "fly out and back"?

Are there any other parrots you're thinking about? Also where are you located (country or state), there might be some species that are illegal where you are.

Sorry, I kept this kind of short and simple since I don't have a Macaw myself and can't give out real specific knowledge, but there are lots of members here with YEARS and specific answers and tips they can give out.

Welcome to the forums Figo...glad you decided to join us.....

Not sure if we have any other members from Singapore, but we do have several from your part of the world, who may have information about available birds near you.....
