new member, new lorikeet mama

Hi all!

I'm here because I just got my first lorikeet, a forsten's. I've had lovebirds and finches in the past and also have a conure now, but this is my first lorikeet and I need some guidance about diet and behavior. I have found little information about lorikeet behavior and less about diet as everything seems geared for those in Australia and New Zealand...that doesn't help me much because I'm from Los Angeles, so I'm looking forward to learning how to take care of my new baby.

Welcome! I had never heard of a Forsten's Lorikeet before reading this thread, but I just went and googled it. Very beautiful! I have been fascinated by lories ever since I saw a lorikeet exhibit at the local zoo. I wanted one for the longest time, but I don't think I can deal with how messy they are. I know there are a couple lory owners on this forum, so hopefully you will get all the answers you need.
