Hi, I'm Garreth. I'm new to the forum as well as being new to owning a pet bird, I got Cedric an indian ring neck on the 21st January this year. I think he is about six months old but unsure about this.
He is a very skittish and shy bird, at first when I got him I went anywhere near the cage he dropped to the bottom wings open and very noisy where as now when I pass the cage most of the time he stays still. I have just got myself a clicker so want to start training him ASAP as I have read on here that it's a good way to start off.

Hi welcome to the forum. Cute IRN! I don't have one so I'm not sure but the dilating his wings sounds like he might want you to stay back. He may just be unsettled by a new home and new people. I'm sure he will come around. Just take things slowly.

He is getting a lot better now as long as I keep saying "hello" as I approach the cage he is fine until I open the large door but fine when opening the small doors for changing water and food...... like you say it's just time

Thank you. He is a lovely olive and gray with bits of blue on him as well..... that is why I had to get him, not seen anything like him before.
