Meyers Parrot
Hello all, I'm new to this forum, i found you all when i was looking for info on my Meyers Parrot Dexter. I adopted him 2 months ago and he is adjusting very well. Dexter is 3 years old, doesn't talk yet and doesn't play with his toys our chew.

Back to me I live in Montclair California, i have 2 jack russell terriers one who thinks Dexter would make a nice snack. so i keep a dog gate one of those metal according style around the bird cage this is working very well for us all. I have so falling in love my Dexter, just cant help it.

I do have a Question for the Group. I have a chance to adopt another Meyers Parrot from a good home, very well taken care of she is 8 years old talks some and plays etc. i thought it would be nice for Dexter to have a friend around. i was wonder can at some point both live in the same large cage? or will they always have to have separate living quarters. :greenyellow: i have add a photo of Dexter and i to my profile

Thank you all Laura

It depends on how well the birds will get along when they meet eachother. I think if you will give him a partner they should start out in seperate cages and you should slowly introduce them to each other and then when you know if they get along put them in the same cage. Welcome to the forum.:):greenyellow::yellow2:

Above answer is correct. It is really up to the birds if they can share one cage. Please remember the quarantine process. You will need another cage for that. If you are not sure how to quarantine there are many other threads with this info. You could use google also. Welcome to our forum. Meyers parrots are very nice but I am partial to all of the African birds.

Welcome... we have a lot of great people here...

Welcome! My two conures share a cage and are good with each other and with us. I have a friend with two conures that don't get along at all. As said above ..it depends on the birds.
