Just got a cinnamon gcc 2 days ago. She is about 4 months old and we love her so much already! Hoping for some guidance on a couple of things.

We are giving her space. She loves her cage. We keep the door open if we are in the room and talk to her a lot. We have taken her out, on a limited basis.

How do we teach her to step up?

She seems to eat a ton! Probably not as much as I think but she seems to graze most of the day. Feeding zureem natural pellets and fresh fruits and veggies. Is this ok?

I would like to try to teach her there are ok places to poop when she is out and about. Is this possible?

Thank you!

It awesome that you came and asked questions I haven't been here long and I know more about birds that I ever dreamed I would this is an amazing resource. I am not a bird whisperer in any way shape or form so all of my suggestions things that have worked for me and my GCCs and I think You should start target training her early just get something like a chopstick and a dog training clicker and every time she touches the stick click it and give her a treat. After she learns that put the stick behind your finger so she has to step up to touch it and as soon as she steps up say step up to build word association that's how I've done it and it's worked like a charm.
The diet seems great that's what I feed my GCCs.
The potty training I have tried for a couple months and have had no luck at all my goose just loves to poop in and on all my prized possessions.
Also if you have not been bitten yet know that it will happen and you just need to roll with it and calmly remove their beak and firmly say no and put them in time out. Ignoring the bites completely doesn't work especially for GCCs because they are known to be nippy anyways. But if you start to get afraid of getting bit they will pick up on it and try and bully you and you really don't want that to happen I am currently dealing with a rescue GCC who was feared in his last home and he isn't enjoying not being the boss anymore and has drawn blood more times than I can count on my bleeding fingers lol.
