New Owner-need Advice.

Hi, I am a new owner, Lucky the sun conure was found at my plant last sat. He was a nice and quiet when I am with him. If I walk out of his sight, he will shout loudly as i am living in an apt, I am afraid to disturb the neighbour. Pls give me some advise as how to stop him calling loudly when left alone. And pls give me some advice how to handle him on hand.Thanks

He just needs to be with you , take him around your home with u .
unfortunately the sun conure is one of the noisy breeds , u can try playing music and extra toys !

Lovely bird, congrats. I think he is screaming cos he is bored. The cage looks way too small for a conure (If this is only a temporary cage, please ignore) My cinn gcc's cage is probably 4 times that size, full of toys and different perch types, plus he gets daily time out of cage. There is not enough toys or things for him to do. Try getting him some foraging toys, so he has to look for and find his food. Looks like you have only 1 dowel perch for him, you need to replace that as dowel is not good for their feet. Sorry this sounds so negative, I dont want you to take it as a criticism cos its not, just advice. I am sure others who have suns, will offer better advice on screaming and how to deal with it.
PS, conure will probably start howling like the dog, cos they can be good mimickers. LOL. Again, congrats on your beautiful bird and welcome to the forum.

He is a beautiful bird and great that you took him home! Please don't take suggestions as criticism because sometimes it seems like that however it is just helpful advice. I think that when bringing home an unexpected pet which it sounds like what happened (if I'm reading this right) it is overwhelming! Birdybabies does have some good advice. One thing I did notice is that different perches would be great, try to put in some natural wood perches (it is good to have different shapes for their feet) Maybe a "boing" as a perch or one that hangs in the cage. Foraging toys need not be expensive, even little cardboard boxes filled with paper shreds and treats work great! If you can't find ones that are birdy safe, they sell packs of them at the petstore then you can fold them and stuff them. Paper lunch bags are great to fill and then put on the bottom of the cage. Since your bird isn't that big maybe cut the bag in half. spinach leaves woven in the cage bars make a fun way for the bird to eat. Foot toys scattered at the bottom of the cage. It looks like he likes to chew on leather, lots of toys made out of that or even pieces that you can boy that are bird safe and then you can make your own! You are doing a great job, it is clear that you love your new baby! If possible, a larger cage would always be a good thing! Your new little guy is beautiful and seems very happy!

Thanks all for your advices.
I am learning and I just bought this cage as the parrot shop owner recommend me, maybe next time I will get a bigger one. I try search for any notice that anyone is looking for him but cannot find, so I decide to keep him. ActuallY I want to look for a parrot for awhile but have no idea which type to get it than suddenly Lucky came to my life. Maybe God has send him here. We get along well, he likes me to touch him but still not able to stand on my hand, I will give him sometimes to settle down. He sleeps around 7.30pm.
Any good advise how to get him stand on my hand?

What fruits are good for him? Now i only give him Apple.

Sun Conures have such amazing coloring imo, and your bird is no exception!

I also fell victim to the too small cage recommendation at my local pet store, so don't feel too bad because you arent the only one. I am going to buy a larger one and donate the current one to the humane society where I adopted our bird (my wife's idea-she's so smart ). Hopefully this is a helpful suggestion.

I love sun conures He is beautiful congrats. However, the screaming is something your going to have to get use to. Its a sun conure thing. They do it when their happy, excited, tired, or bored. Music helps like stated in previous posts along with keeping him involved with your routine. But it wont eliminate his natutal call. I would just talk to the neighbors first and let them meet him. They may not be as angry or surprised with a morning wake up call
