New Ring neck baby parrot

Hi,

I just got a ring neck green parrot from local birds market. The shopkeeper was saying its just 2 mths old. Its been 2 weeks nw since we brought. We also have 3 budgies. We named it Parry. Parry is bit hesitate in behaviour towards us. It doesnt come into hands easily. It Always wants to be on top of the cage where we have kept the budgies. We keep parry's cage open so that it can come out at its wish. Usually as soon as its morning it comes out of the cage and stays on its top. From there it always tries to go to the budgies cage. I tried to them together, but parry simply goes to bite them. It doesnt like the budgies around. But then its alwys on top of their cage. It doesnt eat food from our hand. We tried with varities like sunflower seeds, fruits etc etc. But its not that parry is too scared to come to us. Also rarely we hear his voice. He rarely reacts. When we are not around, he sometimes makes noise, but as soon as we are in his visibilty he just turns his face towards the wall. Kindly help me with some taming tricks to build trust and bond with parry. We have been talking to it, bt he just looks on or impatiently walks all over the cage.

This actually sounds pretty good for a new parrot. He is not aggressive or loud, he's just not comfortable with you yet. Birds are social animals, once he realizes this is his home he will likely warm up to you on his own.

You can try to speed things along though. He will not take treats from your hand, but are there any treats he likes? You don't need to go directly from him eating the treat in his bowl to eating out of your hand - take it one step at a time. Have some good treats that he likes, and put one out on the floor or somewhere he can walk to get them. Do this over and over gradually moving farther from his cage and closer to you. Don't react or try to talk to him while doing this - just let him come out and get the treat; let him see there is no trick to it: if he comes out of his cage he gets good things.
