Hey all!

I have recently decided I would like to branch into birds after much thought and consideration. I currently keep saltwater fish (Feel free to ask if you are interested in starting an aquarium) but thought it would be nice to have a pet I can interact with. So far everyone on here has been great and with help I have concluded a parrotlet is the bird for me. I will be posting along the way.

As far as my family situation, I am 23, married and I have a 3 month old son. My family has lived in central Florida for several years now and I am a huge sports fan. If you have any other questions just ask! Nice meeting everyone!

When you go in to the bird word just consider following, regarding what kind of bird you should have

1. Do you have the time ?
2. Big bird can be a safty essue (children).
3. Consider that perrot can live many yers.
4. Do you have bacup when on hollyday ?

Welcome to the forum, feel free to just ask any questions you want - what made you decide on a parrotlet? :)

Thanks for the welcome guys, to answer your questions. Yes I have enough time to care for a bird, I finish work early in the day and can give it plenty of time out of the cage. I have plenty of room for a large cage and can provide a healthy diet. My son is only three months old and i have no animals that could harm it, unless my fish grow legs and lungs overnight. Lol I understand the concern, I know where your coming from. I deal with it all the time in the aquarium hobby, people don't research and buy something they arent prepared to care for. As far as why I chose the parrotlet, it fit my needs. I wanted a smaller bird that didn't have much of a bite so my wife and eventually son could handle it. I needed a bird that was relatively quite as my wife works nights. I wanted it to be relatively clean, I can deal with some spilled seed, but I've seen the mess large parrots can make. I really like the colors and the ease of care compared with other birds.
