1x Sun Conure "Picasso"
1x Cockatiel "Tappy"
Hello everyone,

Like I said in another thread, I got a Cockatiel (my first bird) as a graduation present about 4 months ago. Then two days ago I adopted a Sun Conure (about 5 years old) Their names are Tappy and Picasso. Picasso has taken a quick liking to me and has already stepped up even though I hadn't had him 4 hours. (That feeling you get when your bird steps up for the first time is unforgettable.) Tappy on the other hand hasn't (hes a chain store bird so hes not tame) but I'm working on it. His attitude has improved. I'm hoping I can train Tappy by showing him having Picasso step up and play. I also have 4 dogs, a lizard, and a rabbit in my home.

Question though... can birds learn to do things like stepping up by watching other birds?

Hobbies? Gaming would be my hobby I suppose.

Oh here's the pic of Picasso (He looks amazing).

Hello and welcome!
Picasso is gorgeous, and it seems like he is settling right in:)
I do believe that birds learn from each other, and with patience and love I believe that Tappy will be stepping up for you in no time.
Glad you joined us and I would love to see pictures of Tappy as well!

Hi and welcome! Beautiful sun(s)...both yours and Timothy's. I have a 5 y.o. sun Cisco. He's awesome! He's my "good" bird...lol. Sassy's my "pretty good" bird.:p

I think they have an easier time assoicating whats expected of them when they see another bird doing it especially if the new bird is getting treats and other exciting things. I've had chain store birds in the past and managed to tame one of them I couldn't give her scritches and was only able to occassionally pet her but it is possible to tame chain store birds as well.
