Hello everyone,

I just got my 4months yellow crowned amazon today and im trying to make it easier for him since it he was travelling for couple of days to arrive here.
Im an African grey guy and this little baby is my first amazon parrot to raise:p
I tried to search the internet about the YCA personality or anything to start with this little guy but i couldn't place my hand on something useful, everything is repetitive on the amazon family in general and i believe i read somewhere each type has its own personality and character.
Any suggestions or advices?
And is there more than one type of YCA like the BFA?

Can't wait for the responses.

Thank you

Those eyes! So flirty! What s babe! Congratulations!!!!

Also read the blue stickies st the top of Amazon forum, lots if Amazon peeps here will love Shari with you. What s cute baby you have, the pictures are just great! Seems do proud of himself, think you have a very special guy or gal there? Name?

YCA are rare in the paet trade, but are like snaller versions of the Hot 3. Calmer and less boisterous. At 4 months yoursis still a baby parrot, so diet is very important. Socializing is too and now is the time for everymember of your familyto hve some interqction wit the baby. Remember, each parrot has its own personality, and generalized statements about YCA may not prove to be the case with yours. Example, our Yellow Shoulder Amazon is not knows as good talkers and singers, yet Salty talks an sings his little head off. Good luck.

Welcome and congratulations!!!

What a cutie, I'm an African grey guy too. So I won't be much help with the Zon personalities but you won't be out in the cold long around here. Lots of great peeps here.

Thank you so much .. when i first saw him i told him we will have a long road to pass through and you will be my precious where he calmly looked into my eyes and with shy cheeks .. asked for food:17:

i will try to dive into the old threads.. i also thought of opening an Instagram account just to post his pictures all the time . He/ she looks really adorable.
As for the gender i have no idea they told me i need to do a test. I will never but my baby now through tests:mad::mad::mad:!!!! But i wil wait..

I couldnt sleep yesterday till i saw the sun .. just thinking of names

Thank you so much man ... so i have to trust myself instead of teaching him, i will just be with him and try to motivate him and let him be with the whole family ... ok i will try to do that .. especially that my family kinda afraid of anything not human, so i feel bad for my baby :p .

Thanx you were such a help man .. i will search here for Saltys pics i got excited to see him man

LOL grey-person myself.. go for the huge sticky in the amazon-part of the forum: a treasuretrove on bodylanguage and everything else if there ever was one!

I would not go as far to say : if there is only one sticky you will ever read in your life, go get that one" (because there a way too many great threads around here)

is amazing (even for folks who do not own/are owned by an amazon)

of course you will get to this one as well ;) http://www.parrotforums.com/amazons/54250-amazon-body-language.html

The African grey is my favourite.. i use to breed them and they used to be my passion.. till lately i saw to many African grey with my friends and relatives and they want to share everything and everytime they come they bring thier own birds wich drove my parrots crazy. So i decided to switch to Amazon since they're moody :D

Anyway i took a quick look at the threads maaan alot of information.. thanx alot

What can i absorb from all of you guys that all the Amazons are almost the same???

Nah, every parrot is an individual ;)
but some groups share characteristics than others.

I had some real issues with Japie (my male grey) in the beginning because he spend a lot of time (5+ years, could be double that or more) next to a mixed amazon couple.
So... though I speak/read CAG pretty well I could not understand what he was saying!
It was like he spoke english and spaninsh mixed together, and I only speak english.

So if you ever need a translator- come borrow Japie for a bit, he speaks both! ;)
