Hello friends, I'm happy to have found this forum.

So we have but a deposit on a Jenday that is still in the nest. We can't wait to start our new relationship! My friend had a Sun Conure that was very loud...lol.....I've been doing some research, but I believe you all are the experts.........are the Jendays just as loud, or are they a little bit mellower?

The first bird I ever hand fed was a Jenday. He was awesome! And loud. They will be very similar in noise and volume to a Sun but it will depend on the individual bird. They both have the capacity to let a big screech rip. It can be managed with enough attention, out of cage time and training!

Very similar noise level. It depends on the individual but if you don’t want a lot of noise, a Green Cheeked Conure might be a better bet.

Welcome to the forums! Conures have varied noise levels, so please continue research and consider changing species if needed.

Well things didn't go as planned with the Jenday breeder........but we are excited about tomorrow....stay tuned!

My Jenday Gus is ridiculously loud (but nothing in comparison to her roommate Pooka the Umbrella Cockatoo). Gus does what I call "the cash register" which sounds like an old school cash register but much louder... and her whistling is very pretty but loud as well. I wouldn't pursue getting a Jenday if you are worried about noise level.

I have a Sun conure and they are the same noise level as a Jenday. Mine is not that loud but I do know there are some that just make random loud noises for NO REASON and I see it all the time in videos and I know some that are pretty quiet like mine. It's kind of a mixed bag of randomness involved in how loud they are and why. It's really hard to tell what they will be like but they have the potential to be REALLY REALLY loud and disruptive to your life. However, if they are non-stop screaming at the top of their lungs and not just making ransom "buy noises" with a scream here and there then there is probably a deeper issue. Hope that helps.

My jenday Odin is generally very low volume but when he wants to be heard he is. He is so lovable though and i just ignore it when he decides to be loud l, i dont want to encourage it.
