Welcome to the Community!!! And congrats on taking-in your son's Ekkie! There is a very large Ekkie community here, and they are extremely experienced, extremely knowledgeable, and many of them have a vast education in and knowledge about the very special diets that all Eclectus require, and how to modify your Ekkie's current diet if he ever starts to exhibit any of the common health-issues/side-effects of being fed an inadequate diet for an Eclectus, such as the Toe-Tapping and the rest. I don't know how old your Ekkie is or how long your son had him, but I'm sure you're already well-aware of their very special dietary needs and most of all their dietary-restrictions...But if by-chance you aren't very familiar with the Ekkie's very unique and special dietary requirements and restrictions, please do not hesitate to ask any and all questions in the Eclectus forum. There is usually always an Ekkie expert around to help you and answer all of your question...There is also an extremely large selection of "Chop" Recipes for Ekkie's in both the Ekkie sub-forum and the Diet and Food sub-forum, so feel free to check them out and get some new ideas for meals for your Ekkie!
I don't know what other species of birds you owned in the past, but honestly even though Parrots are a bit different than other birds such as Doves/Pigeons, any of the Poultry Birds like Chickens, Ducks, Turkey, etc., or any of the "Game Birds" like Chukkars, Quail, Pheasants, etc., they are still very similar in their Anatomy/Physiology, their General-Health/Medical issues, and also in their Psychological/Mental Health and in their Behaviors...So no matter what other species of birds you owned in the past, you'll be able to apply what you learned back then to owning your Eclectus or any other species of Parrot you might decide to add to your Flock, whether it be a Budgie or other type of Parakeet, a Cockatiel, a Conure, an Amazon, a Macaw, etc. They all have the same DNA, and they are ALL extremely intelligent and able to use logic and reasoning skills, and they are all Flock-Animals who need lots of love, time, and attention from you and the rest of their Flock that lives in the house with them...
Again, welcome to you and your new Ekkie!
