News report: Stolen Amazon in DeWitt, NY

Ugh I feel so awful for them. That was upsetting to see. The bird was not only very much loved, but served as an emotional support animal for the daughter. You can't put a price on that. It made me mad to see the first female reporter (sitting at the desk in yellow), talking about the reward saying "that's a lot of money for a pet bird!" As if it's only a bird, but she would have understood had it been a purebred dog or something other than "just a bird".

While I feel bad for the humans, imagine how this poor bird feels, yanked away from his flock. An opportunity theft like this was likely done by an addict, who, when they can't turn the parrot quickly into cash, may just release it.

Gary, thank you for posting this touching story! I'm so happy Emmet was safely returned to her family.

I imagine that it was a scary experience for Emmett, and she's as happy to be home as her family is to have her back. We might all use this as a reminder too that it's risky to leave a parrot unattended in a car.
