Parker is sometimes using too much pressure when he is mouthing...It isn't quite a bite just chewing with too much force...I know that a member had posted some no nip pressure training for macaws and was wondering if it would work on Parker or if not is there another solution...I don't mind him being mouthy as long as he can learn the right amount of pressure...this has been going on for about a month but not all the time...I thought about giving him something to chew on when I pick him up but that seems like it would only be a temporary solution
Thanks

When Mango started getting mouthy I would blow on him and say no. He now knows what no means and if he starts doing something he shouldn't I sternly say no and he stops.

What billy does is very similar to what i do. I think giving them a stick is the wrong approach. Say "NO" and let him know what is too much pressure.

Luckily I never had that problem with Hunter, but Sam can get testy and too "beaky". He watches me like a hawk, because he knows I don't tolerate hard nips. Whenever he gets carried away I give him the evil eye and a stern NO. Sam will then do some low growl mumbling, as if he's quietly cursing me out, but he'll stop being rough immediately, especially because he knows if he doesn't knock it off he'll get a time out. :54:

I've been trying the stern no and so gar so good...they are such smart little buggers aren't they...lol

iv been having the same problem with my jasper it likes playing all the time but then gets to rough and bites hard sometimes to bloody hard ha i give it a stern NO and point towards its beak it seems to understand.

Amazons tend to not control their bite pressure when they get excited. Macaws are easy. Amazons are much harder to bite pressure trained...

Rule of (save your) thumb: Don't let them get worked into a state while handling them!
