Male Senegal parrot
Hello!

The kids are grown and on their own, but we decided to have Some feathered children to fill this nest. We have a 19 year old Senegal as of now, and would like to get a blue and gold or green wing or both. We have a lot to learn, and I'm hoping that I can get some of that knowledge from first hand experience from some of you. Thank you!:blue1:

First, welcome to the forums, you should find the answers you're looking for around here...there's plenty of experience around here.....

Second, glad you're companion bird experienced.....

Third, congratulations on being empty nesters, albeit, with a sideline.....

In the past year or so, I've been trying to work myself into some form of retirement, but with the exception of having fostered an African grey once, the largest parrot I've owned, has been a Patagonian conure...though not for lack of desire, rather more out of the reality that for some 10+ years I traveled & worked out of the country, but I had/have (part time now) a very good birdsitter.....

If, being as you are, looking to move into big bird ownership, I would make sure I had a qualified birdsitter or two or three I could trust and call on, looking forward to visiting the kids and/or grandkids, down the road.....I know from experience that all that needs to be in place before going looking for that special bird or two.....keep in mind there are going to be those what-if emergencies that you can never plan for.....

Good luck in re-feathering your nest.....

Welcome! Your Senegal looks like a handsome guy in your avatar :) Any more pics?
I have 2 relatives of the Senegal, a Red Bellied and a Ruppell's. My Red Bellied is a senior like your Sennie ;) he just turned 20. Looking forward to hearing about him. What's his name?
