Hi Guys

Went away to Te Anu on our South Islands West Coast for the weekend the other week and got some pics of our NZ native birds the Kea was wild. The Takahe were in a sanctury.

The Kea are the ones you might of heard of or seen if you've visited NZ. They are a very cheecky naughty mountain parrot that will steal your lunch especially chocolate from your backpack. They will rip off the rubber windscreen seals or anything else they can get their beaks into including the arial from your car or worse.

And we think pet parrots can be destructive.

The Takahe is one of our endangerd flightless bird. There are only around 200 left.

I have also included a couple of links incase anyones interested.
One is a kids site but its a good read.

The links have "http" on them twice, FYI. Those beaks are very interesting!

NZ has some amazing birds! I was on the south island (well, Dunedin to be exact! LOL - but did travel around some) and missed seeing a wild kea (well, a kea that was in the wild - saw two in captivity that I think were previously wild?), but did get to see kiwi's (also in captivity - Queenstown) and some other amazing birds! The pigeons there? Holey moley are they HUGE!!!!!

If you get any more photos, you should definitely share them!!! Thanks for sharing the ones of the kea and takahe!!!!

Hi

hope you enjoyed your visit to NZ and a great time. Dunedin is my home town so I really hope you had a great time here:)

It's gorgeous! And yes, I did! Was visiting with my sister, brother in law and my nephew two years ago! They are now back in the states with me!

Only thing I didn't enjoy though was the flight over and back! That was horrendous now... lol
